This program is a course designed for dog owners looking to become Pet Therapy volunteers and is not a basic obedience class. The program is strictly designed to get an owner prepared to visit hospitals, hospices and assisted living facilities. Requirements: Dogs must have completed a basic obedience class, dogs must be at least one year of age, handler must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by an adult, and dogs must have current vaccinations, current rabies vaccination and license. K9 Games
This class will teach your dog fun games that will put an end to all behavioral problems. By learning these K9 games, your dog will have more confidence, self-control and learn to relax. In addition, this class will cover long line training coupled with distractions while working with your dog at a distance. Requirement: All dogs must be dog friendly. You will learn how to achieve: ROCKET RECALLS by understanding the emergency learning behavior chain and the importance of the stop cue in developing reliable recalls with your dog; as well as, building distance coupled with distractions. Real Time K9 Training-The Real World
Using real life situations (distractions) your dog will learn to behave in public like never before. Here is an example: you open your car door while your dog waits to jump out, when 2 dogs run by and your dog doesn’t move. All exercises will be based on AKC Advance CGC.
