What can you tell us about the O.C. Pride LGBT Festival this year? This year, the O.C. Pride Festival will be more immersed within the city of down- town Santa Ana. We are expanding across a greater area and including many LGBT and LGBT-friendly organizations that already exist in the heart of downtown Santa Ana. This festival continues to be a free, family-friendly event, with activities for all ages. Our new format is also the first step towards our goal of adding an Orange County Pride Parade in 2016.
What about the Rainbow Pride Party at Velvet Lounge? TheRainbow Pride Party is the “official” after party for the O.C. Pride Festival. It will feature DJs and guest performers, so expect a colorful, packed club, where everyone is free to be who they are, as we celebrate the LGBT community.

Any other special events coming up at Velvet Lounge? We will have huge club nights for the entire 4th of July weekend. We are currently in rehearsals for our brand new Dinner And Drag show entitledCinematic, which features production numbers from classic and iconic television and movies, including Shannel as Lucille Ball. Our Dinner And Drag performances happen nightly, Thursday through Sunday. Cinematic will open later in the summer and will alternate performances with our current showLipstick and Lashes.
What are you most proud of living in Orange County? My favorite thing about Orange County, is the accepting nature and lack of pretentiousness within the LGBT community.
Anything else you would like to share? For the first time this year, we are launch- ingO.C. Pride Week, which will be from Monday, July 27 to Sunday, August 2. In addition to the annual festival, O.C. Pride Week will include daily events that occur all over Orange County including a Kickoff Party at Tin Lizzie in Costa Mesa and aClosing Party at West Street Beach and Main Street Bar in Laguna Beach.
Velvet Loungeis located at 416 West 4th Street in Santa Ana. For more information about these and other events, visit
