SASHA’S HOT DESERT NIGHTS

by sasha scarlett Hey, Palm Springs fans… It’s great to have

you back and reading! I have to say, this month Palm Springs is sizzling! No, really, as in my vagina just melted! This is the time of year we Palm Springers call “low season,” because the snowbirds have gone and so have a lot of locals. Today was a balmy 117 degrees. Seriously, my va-jay-jay melted.

Here’s What’s Happening In Palm Springs This Month: The only recourse… is to take off all your clothes and

“undress” your inhibitions, at one of the 28 “clothing- optional resorts” in the Coachella Valley. My personal fave is CCBC at 68300 Gay Resort Drive, where over the holiday weekend, you can check outYankee Doodle Dandy fromFriday, July 3 through Sunday, July 6. A contest where they select a nude “Mr. Yankee Doodle,” though, I’m not sure what the “winner” has to do? But, I bet it involves tooting a piccolo. Then, there’s alwaysSling Fling on Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12 and trust me, the event’s name says it all. All that’s fit to sling… will be slung. For more information, go toccbcgayresort.com. You can always check out Helios Resort, 280 East Mel

Avenue, home to porn legend, Matt Sizemore on the4th of Julyfor“PORN.”I have to say, that is a hilarious name for an Independence Day event. All these resorts have pools, abundant naked men, lots of SPF and tanning oil to spread on your nether regions. It wouldn’t be Palm Springs without a little sunshine and sparklers. For more information, go toheliosgayresort.com. OnSaturday, July 18 I’ll be at Toucans Tiki Lounge,

2100 North Palm Canyon Drive, for a fundraiser with the Palm Springs Gay Softball League. There are sure to be pitchers and catchers… along with a few guys that can actually play softball, as well. The event runs from 5-8 p.m. and includes food, drinks, prizing and lots of hot athletes who know a little about “taking one for the team.” For more information, go totoucanstikilounge.com. Join supporters ofAIDS Assistance Program at the legendary O’Donnell House, 412 West Tahquitz Canyon, for aDazzling Independence Day Celebration, also onSaturday, July 4. The evening includes cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Tickets

are $125 per person, include valet parking and must be booked in advance! It’s a great way to see the fireworks in an elegant and refined space, while raising money for a great cause. For tickets and more information, go to aidsassistance.org. For those who like regular, weekly events at their local

watering holes or restaurants and a chance to mix with the local boys, I suggestSummer Sessions at Mr. Lyons Steakhouse, 233 East Palm Canyon Drive. The newly reopened venue has great food and is brought to you by the folks who own Cheeky and Birba, two of Palm Springs favorites. Try this latest fab creation from 5 to 7 p.m., go tomrlyonsps.com. No Sunday in Palm Springs would be complete, without the weeklyTea Dance at Oscar’s, 125 East Tahquitz Canyon Way. Loads of hot men, daddy’s, brazen hussies (you tell me which category I fit into), incredible drink specials and a small tea dance food menu, as you groove to the beats of DJ Bob Scratch, one of SoCal’s hottest DJs. The fun starts at 4 p.m., for more informa- tion, go tooscarspalmsprings.com. For a good time, try Happy Hour at Pho 533, 1775 East

Palm Canyon Drive. With ice-cold drinks, yummy and healthy appetizer specials ranging from $4 to $6, you just cant lose! Especially, when you add the libations! They call itCool Summer Happy Hour…Well, at least the summer happy hour part is accurate. For more information, go topho533palmsprings.com. Check out Friday nights at Azul Georgie’s Alibi, 369

North Palm Canyon and the eventNoches Azul, for hot Latinos and an eight-piece cover band. The party is for 18-plus an is free before 9 p.m., as well. Mature guys mixed with hot, young gay caballeros—sounds like my kind of place. For more information, go toalibiazul.com. Last but not least, as the marketing director for Palm

Springs Pride, I am so pleased about our new poster and branding campaign for 2015. Designed by renowned Palm Springs artist, Nat Reed, it is fun, eclectic and is the funniest Pride poster of the year. Jetsetter Magazine just named Palm Springs Pride one of the “Top 11 Pride Festivals” to travel to in the world! They put us right up there with Amsterdam and N.Y.C., which, I have to say, is pretty amazing. Even more amazing... It’s the only free major Pride Festival in So Cal. I’d call that winning in the desert. For early information onPalm Springs Pride, go to pspride.org. Grab your towel, get a mani/pedi, get your back waxed

and head out to Palm Springs. The air is warm, the sun is smoldering and the drinks are cold!

Kisses and Kold Kompresses, Sasha Scarlett
