Students come to college to learn a trade or to progress onto A levels. Of course, that is the main purpose for their attendance. The reason they are doing maths and English is that they have failed those before. Students need good maths and English skills in everything they do now or in the future so we cannot ignore this and it would be wrong to simply let them fail again.
