KPAQ benefits from ABB’s management systems
supplied to KPAQ Industries for its mill in St Francisville, Louisiana, by ABB. The new CPM system, completed in November 2014, has been integrated into KPAQ’s existing ERP system, various production systems and accounting systems enabling it to fully utilize ABB’s cpmPlus solutions for sales/order management, production planning, production management, decision support and product tracking. “We had a highly customized
A
system that did not fit our current work environment. The configurable architecture that ABB
Collaborative Production Management (CPM) system has been
provides will allow for all the tools and reporting needed for decision making and efficient action,” said KPAQ’s operations chief Jeff Rake. ABB says its CPM system
integrates various manufacturing systems, providing real-time visibility, execution, tracking, reporting, and optimizing of manufacturing processes. It is said
to reduce ‘order-to-cash’ time for customers’ manufacturing operations, improve throughput, reduce inventory and optimize business processes.
Grigiskes AB starts up new tissue line at Vilnius
Lithuanian paper products manufacturer Grigiskes has started up its new PM6 tissue line at its Vilnius mill. The line, supplied by Toscotec,
has capacity to produce 110 tons a day. It augments the mill’s PM5 which was in 2011 modernised with a Toscotec Steel Yankee Dryer TT SYD-4200MM that increased capacity to 17,000 tpy. Grigiskes, which produces
toilet paper, paper towels and table-napkins, corrugated board and corrugated cartons, said the new line will enable further development of paper production and sales. “All components of new machine were tested before
we produced the first batch of paper,” said Gintautas Pangonis, president of Grigiskes AB. “We are very happy to announce that the production start was smooth, and quality of the first paper
batch supports our optimistic belief in the investment. Having started production with a new paper machine, we expect fast growth of turnover and profit.” The new line – with a design
speed of 1,900 metres per minute and a width of 2.75m – includes an Ahead-1.5S crescent former tissue machine with single- layer headbox, single press configuration and a TT SYD-15FT steel yankee dryer, machine auxiliaries (gas heated hood with three stages heat recovery system, machine dust and mist removal system, hall ventilation system were from Milltech), stock preparation plant for virgin pulp and an electrification and control system. Two unwind stands, tissue
slitter, a rewinder TT WIND-M and an automatic roll handling system completed Toscotec’s supply.
