hub to meet the needs of the business sector in our region. The Port of Sundsvall is an important forestry port in Sweden, but is also open to all shipping traffic as a general port. At the same time, the railway
line to the port is being upgraded and electrified and the combi-terminal currently
located in the centre of Sundsvall is being moved out to the port. Thus sea, rail and road transport are being unified to provide the prerequisites to meet the transport challenges facing our industry. The Port of Sundsvall will be a logistics park – a place where three modes of transport and goods meet.
A key part of the Sundsvall
development has been the building of a bridge over the bay, which was opened in December 2014 to ease traffic problems. A new container harbour is to be built along with a new railway system that will be able to accommodate much longer trains.
The logistics world is heading to Liverpool
IFWLA (International Federation of Warehousing Logistics Associations) from 1 - 4 June 2015.
T It will be the third time that
the convention of the IFWLA, the global logistics operators’ networking organisation, will be held in the UK. A four-day programme of business and culture is planned for around 250 national and international delegates, comprising manufacturers, retailers, third party logistics providers and other supply chain and logistics practitioners. The convention is augmented by a two-day conference to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday 2-3 June, at Liverpool’s Town Hall. Hosted and organised by the
United Kingdom Warehousing Association, the conference theme is: ‘Change equals new opportunities – the changing face of global logistics, and the opportunities for you’. IFWLA’s newly elected president Derrick Potter,
