for Malling Central, said: “We un- derstand KCC has been looking at this as a potential site for Operation Stack. We are opposed to having it at Aylesford Newsprint. To access the site, lorries would have to go past a lot of residential accommo- dation. “It makes no sense to replace an employment site with a car park

(SE) as unbeaten champions in the 2012-13 season. They recently thrashed local rivals

Aylesford Bulls RFC 106-3 but Bridgenorth may provide much

that will be sitting there empty waiting for some use a few days a year.” KCCis drawing up an action plan

with haulage industry representa- tives, business leaders, the Port of Dover, Eurotunnel, Kent Police, Highways England, ferry compa- nies and local authorities that will be presented to the Government. The plan will decide whether to have one large lorry park or a num-

thing would be to expand one or more service stations along the mo- torway. This would be cheaper and more economic than having a single car park in the countryside.” Local MEP Catherine Bearder is campaigning to make the French strikes illegal by claiming that they breach one of the main principles of the EU – freedom of trade.

turned down APROPOSAL for eight new homes on land east of Hockers Lane, Detlingwas refused. AB Investments' planning appli-

cation was considered unaccept- able by Maidstone Council due to the site’s location outside the vil- lage boundary causing harm to the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The scheme provoked several ob- jections, including one from Detling Parish Council, which had objected to two previous applica- tions on the same site. One of the objectors wrote: “The

area was laid with two bunds and planted with trees and shrubs as part of the construction of the high speed rail link. The proposal would cause a detrimental alteration to the effectiveness of this noise barrier.”

Home for carer A MOBILE home could be estab- lished in Old Shelve, Ashford Road, Lenham for a daughter to look after her elderly parents. A planning application, to be de-

cided by Maidstone Council, calls for the mobile home to replace three timber sheds. If allowed, the daughter would be the primary carer of the residents of a dwelling on the site.
