If you are running a company car fleet, and you want your middle managers to drive a fuel-efficient, smart vehicle that will mop up the miles with ease, you could choose the Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel, writes David Murray of The Business Magazine
When I first saw that this model has just 161bhp, I thought that might feel underpowered for a car of this size. But there’s enough performance, and a decent amount of torque, to move the XF along at a fair rate, and ensure you can overtake securely.
This is helped enormously by the eight-speed automatic gearbox, a smooth and responsive transmission that still remains one of the XF’s best assets.
The gearbox now works with a new stop-start system. This helps boost fuel economy from 55.4mpg to 57.7mpg and brings the car into a lower company car tax rate – the main reason that Jaguar built this model in the first place.

The cabin of an XF is a lovely place to sit, with the quality of instruments and seats, the touch- screen audio and navigation centre, and the luxurious feel of the trim making for a classy all-round experience.
In terms of driving experience, whichever model you choose, the XF remains a lovely car to own. Excellent steering feel and a sensible ride – crafted on UK roads, so with the required
The all-new Jaguar XE: On the road in 2015
2015 sees the arrival of the all-new Jaguar XE and promises to be a game changer for local Jaguar dealer, Ridgeway, on Cumnor Hill in Oxford.
Described as “a true driver’s car” by Martin Sewell, Ridgeway Jaguar brand director, the rear-drive Jaguar XE redefines the concept of the sports saloon thanks to its advanced lightweight construction, streamlined styling, luxurious interior, and outstanding ride and handling.
Sewell added: “The XE is simply stunning and is on sale now with the first deliveries in May 2015. The dynamics of this exciting car really do deliver. Orders are strong (both on retail and through our dedicated business/fleet team) – we can’t wait for the XE – so much so is that we’ve managed to secure a special XE preview model which will be at our showroom on Saturday, March 7 for one day only.”
Ridgeway Jaguar is part of Ridgeway which also represents Land Rover, Maserati, Volkswagen, Audi and SKODA across the Thames Valley region.
In June 2014, Ridgeway was presented with the ‘Most Admired Thames Valley Business’ award, by the Thames Valley Business Barometer and then
THE BUSINESS MAGAZINE – THAMES VALLEY – FEBRUARY 2015

Ridgeway were shortlisted in three ‘finalist’ categories in the Awards, which covers the M4, M40 and M3 corridors and highlights the best of business in the area. Against some very strong and credible opposition, Ridgeway won the category for the ‘The Best Use of Technology’ for “Workshop Window by Ridgeway” for illustrating an innovative approach to the application of technology and a demonstrable improvement in the customer service experience as a result of technology. Earlier in the year the Workshop Window online video safety check service won 'Digital Initiative of the Year' at the Motor Trader Awards.
In the two other categories Ridgeway gained runner-up awards in the ‘Thames Valley Dynamic Business of the Year’ and ‘Best Company to Work for’.
Over the past 20 months, Ridgeway has
