Where Nature Meets Nurture and Simplicity Meets Style at the St. Julien in Boulder

ou’d think we’d be tired of sampling craft beers by now, but in my quest to find the perfect pumpkin ale…or any pumpkin beer out here for that matter, I thought for sure we’d find it in Boulder – another beer capital of the country. And wow…at 18%, did I ever find one. Avery Brewing Company’s Rumpkyn was a whopper! I couldn’t even get through the 2 oz. sample, so needless to say, I’ll have to get back to New England to really enjoy pumpkin beer. Lucky for me, there is so much more to do in Boulder than drink beer. Boulder is an easy, walkable city and the Pearl St. mall has numerous shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops to keep you busy all day. We checked into the St. Julien Resort & Spa conveniently located just a block away from all of the action on Pearl Street. I loved the red brick exterior, the grand and spacious lobby with a beautiful wood fireplace you can lounge by, the lovely outdoor terrace to have lunch on and the lively bar with great cocktails. Our room was stunning, overlooking the terrace, with a four poster bed that was one of the most comfortable beds we’ve experienced this whole trip. I loved the spacious bathroom with a large slate shower and waterfall showerhead and separate deep soaking tub. The com- plimentary bottled water was a nice touch as well. The St. Julien has created a perfect balance of melding nature and nurture, simplicity and style, relaxation and renewal, a sanctu- ary built just for you. St Julien sets itself apart from other Boulder, Colorado hotels as an oasis of tranquility – offering inspired views of the Flatiron Mountains, and doorstep access to the famous Pearl Street Mall with over 200 shops and 80 restaurants. Being an active city, there are also miles of hiking and biking paths and numerous entertainment options. It’s not hard to see why you’d want to stay at the St. Julien and

The T-Zero Lounge offers a modern, yet contemporary ren- dezvous for signature martinis, cocktails and one of the best wine programs in Boulder. Hand-crafted signature cocktails and mar- tinis, many made with local Colorado liquor, are complemented with an entertainment schedule that features live music five nights a week. You can even indulge in Afternoon Tea. The setting for tea takes place in the Great Room by the fireplace with exquisite views through the floor to ceiling windows that overlook the Flatiron Mountains. They keep the teas seasonal by offering “iced” teas in the summer months that feature cucumber infused water and deli- cate tea sandwiches made from the ingredients picked right from the farmer’s market here in Boulder. During the winter season, they offer traditional Gingerbread Teas for the holidays. But here’s the best part! In an attempt to improve their environ- mental efforts, the St Julien has formed a Green Committee, whose goal is to spearhead efforts that will reduce the hotel’s footprint on the community, all while maintaining the high level of service and quality demanded by guests.
