National Loading/Unloading Survey Hits the Web
Te Kansas State Department of Education’s School Bus Safety Education Unit has once again
published its annual report on danger zone fatalities, showing an increase from five fatalities in the 2007-2008 school year to 18 in the 2008-2009 school year. Visit
www.stnonline.com/go/542 to download a copy of the National School Bus Loading and Unloading Survey for the 2008-2009 school year. A majority of the fatalities occurred during morning routes, with cases occurring in a total of 11 states. State Director Larry Bluthardt said he was shocked by the jump in deaths and attributed it to “the driver of the bus not paying attention.”
