Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Rickey Medlocke and Gary Rossington have joined forces with Allman Brothers Band co-founder Dickey Betts and country legend Charlie Daniels, to help launch Gibson Guitar’s new "Southern Rock 1959 Les Paul." The new reis- sue, which is available at authentic Gibson re- tailers nationwide, is the first Gibson instrument to specifically pay tribute to a music genre. A portion of proceeds from each guitar sold will be donated to the Music Health Alliance. Gibson Custom’s tribute to "Southern Rock 1959 Les Paul," which starts at just over $9,000 is a “’Reverseburst’ sun- burst that is slightly reminiscent of a heart centered on the guitar’s top, a nod to the tremendous spirit that pushed Southern Rock from fringe to mainstream consciousness.” Guitar aficionados can purchase one of the fifty exclusive signed guitars by rock legends Gary Rossington, Wet Willie’s Jimmy Hall and Charlie Daniels for $18,824. The guys are working on a new album, and have a new single and music video called “One Life.” Buffalo says “Check it out!”... Devon Allman announced last week on his Twitter account that he will be leaving Royal Southern Brotherhood this spring follow- ing the band’s appearance at the Wanee Festi- val. The band has hired Tyrone Vaughn, son of Jimmie Vaughn as a replacement. Allman says that 2015 will see a world tour in support of Ragged & Dirty, as well as produc- ing and some other “big plans.” “There is no bad blood y’all,” says Allman. “It’s just time for me to do my thang.” ... Dweezil Zappa has issued the following announcement: “I'm excited to announce that today I am officially "breaking ground" on my new album. I begin in the studio today with engineer co-producer Joe Baressi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool) recording the basic tracks for my first solo record in 10 years.” •
