ago when we worked together on a couple al- bums of his When I Get My Wings and Gypsy Boy, I believe. Just recently I was thinking of titles for songs - sometimes that's the way I get myself going on the songwriting thing - and "The man from down near Waco" sounded good to me. Of course, a title like that can only be about Billy Joe. What a great man he is, a truly wonderful writer.

I did want to ask you about the gig at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals. What a great weekend that was, July 18, 19 and 20. It was during the W.C. Handy Festi- val in Muscle Shoals. A music fan/promoter friend of mine from up in Chicago area, Danny Randolph, helped put together a com- bination acoustic duo gig with Scott Boyer and myself and a reading by Galadrielle All- man of her book about her father Duane. The book is titled Please Be With Me: A Song For My Father, Duane Allman. Of course, "Please Be with Me" is also the title of Scott's song from the Cowboy years. It was a natural com- ing together for us to be joined by Galadrielle because of the song and because Duane played on it with us. We recorded it in the early '70's at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios so we went back there -it's now a sort of mu- seum, but about to be put back to use by Rod- ney Hall, son of Rick Hall "Fame Studios"- so we went there and played an hour or so set and then Galadrielle read from her book and we all took questions. The first 2 days went really well and were sold out, so we did a third show at Fame Studios where Duane did many recordings before he put together The Allman Brothers Band. Rick Hall was there with us and the whole affair was just right!

You've been playing shows with Scott Boyer here and there. Any chance of another Cowboy record? Well, as you know, you were there, when the original Cowboy members all gathered in Nov. of 2008 to do some "reunion" record-

ings at Johnny Sandlin's Duck Tape Studio in Decatur, Al. We got 4 done with all original members and began some other recordings with the help of friends like Randall Bram- blett, David Hood, Bill Stewart and Kelvin Holly. When the time is right, Scott and Johnny and I plan on finishing up the little bit needed to have that project wrapped. Will keep you informed on that, thanks for asking. Also, a company called Real Gone Records re- released Cowboy's first album Reach For The Sky in April of 2014.They are re-releasing our second album 5'll Getcha Ten on Dec. 2, 2014.

Wow! That is great news. I remember the songs you guys recorded with the original band. Fun times. So what are your plans now? I know you are out playing a lot. Fill us in on what we can look forward to. Getting ready to play a set of my new stuff down at the "Skydog 68" Festival in Macon, Ga. on Nov. 23, 2014. They are celebrating Duane's birthday and helping the hungry and homeless in that area at the same time. I am busy with promotion people now, trying to get this new project in front of the people. You know how many new CD's come out every week, it's tough to get attention and I thank you for giving me some!

Anytime! Every time! Nobody deserves the cyber ink more. Take care and stay well Michael. Thanks a million! •
