artmouth Rock will be raising the roof of St Saviour’s – as well as funds for the Children’s Hospice South December at 7.30pm.

The choir, which is now 18 months old, is going from strength to strength and most recently performed a very well received 30-minute cabaret spot at the Snowball at the Flavel. They sing unaccompanied pop/rock songs from the 1950s to the present day, and their concert at St Saviour’s will include hits by the Everly Brothers, Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Take That, Snow Patrol and Pharrell Williams, plus a sprin- kling of seasonal songs! The Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) supports

children and their families who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Founded in 1991, when the nearest hospice was in Oxford, there are now three children’s hospices across the South West based near Barnstable, Bristol and Plymouth. The hospices offer respite care for families, as well as emergency care and, when the time comes, palliative and end-of-life care. All these services are provided free of charge because CHSW believe that nothing should get in the way of very sick children receiving the very best care.

Choir director, Jean Judge, said: “CHSW receive very little

Government funding and rely heavily on the generosity of its supporters to keep these hospices running. So we are de- lighted to help raise funds by doing a concert which, despite

is still fresh in the memory the planning has already started for 2015. Jason Aylett, Flying Display Director for the Regatta, has begun the process of arranging next year’s air display programme. Jason says. “During the display season, the air display

teams are very busy and in demand to attend hundreds of events so it is vital that we start our preparations early. Applications are forwarded to the various services through their individual commands so co-ordination is extremely important. This process begins in September once the financial paperwork has been completed from that year’s Regatta. “I have already applied for the Royal Air Force assets

which include the massively in demand Red Arrows, Typhoon and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Helicopter requests have to be processed through two chains, which are Joint Helicopter Command for the

applications are also made to the Royal Naval Historic Flight for the Sea Fury and to the Blades display team, who were very disappointed to have been twice thwarted by weather this year so they are determined to be back in 2015. “To add a little variety for 2015, I have also requested support from the Royal Netherlands Air Force and their F16 display and quotes from several civilian air display aircraft such as the P51 Mustang and the B-17 Preservation Ltd – The Sally B. But all of these requests are dependent on costs which is always the highest priority and I always select the best value for money.” It’s not just a matter of ensuring the planes and their crews are signed up, as there is a major coordinated effort by the
