aving grown up within the world of antiques and with over 36 years of experience, Len- nox Cato still finds buying and selling fine antiques the ultimate challenge. With large high street showrooms on the Surrey, Sussex and Kent boarders, the market town of Edenbridge is where he and his wife have been running the business for the past 17 years. The Kent based business has an international ap-

peal. Clients travel from all over the world to visit the beautifully constructed showrooms, where they can acquire fine furniture and related works of art and as a furniture specialist with the BBC 1’s Antiques Road- show for the past 10 years, Lennox Cato Antiques has become quite an attraction in this small town. Lennox makes a point of looking after new and ex-

isting clients by providing a professional and confiden- tial service, valuations as a NAVA member (National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers), consultancy, advice on interior and exterior design, home security for your beautiful antiques and works of art and resto- ration. No job can be too big, too small or too far away. The showrooms have items that would suit most

pockets, but the underlining attraction is that Lennox buys and sells a quality product, whether it’s thou- sands of pounds or under a hundred pounds. As the business grows and continues to be more successful, he finds himself focusing on more impor- tant and special articles, especially as the Chinese market grows he particularly looks for items to suit this clientele. Quality pieces will always reign supreme and his clientele know they can always find something of true merit amongst his stock. In recent months he has acquired some exceptional pieces. One was a very rare walnut cabinet on chest with fabulous quality and wonderful patination. This is now happily ensconced in one of his private client’s homes and being lovingly cared for ready for the next generation.

A few times a year a presence in London is felt

to be very important, particularly to meet new cli- ents and keep in touch with past ones. In September in the heart of Mayfair he finds the LAPADA Fair in Berkeley Square meets these requirements best. With such a great location, easily accessible and extremely well organised, he feels it very important to support this association’s annual Fine Art and Antiques Fair. At the fair you will find a well selected display of

stock on his stand B16 and having the rest on sale in the high street shop in Edenbridge, there is an opportuni- ty to visit either venue. Whichever is the most convenient there will most definitely be a guaranteed warm welcome at both.
