Michael Jones I have two children, a teenage
Foothills Sentry
Tustin Unified School District Candidates David Yang
As a businessman and teacher,
daughter and a 10-year-old son who is a special needs student; he is autistic. For the past eight years, I have served on the board of an OC charter school, and am famil- iar with the issues facing Califor- nia schools. My undergraduate degree is in education, and I am qualified to consider each issue from the perspective of a parent, a teacher, a community resident, and a board member. I work with a Christian church,
and I served my country as an Army JAG officer. I am a combat veteran. My military service as a commissioned officer has trained me in a supervisory role. I have extensive experience in making policy decisions. Additionally, I am versed in the Brown Act, which governs open meetings for legislative bodies. I pledge to be available by phone, email, or in person, to all parties concerned about issues facing the school dis- trict.
I have what it takes to be an out- standing TUSD board member. I graduated from OC public schools, and I have a master's in educational administration. As a school teach- er, I chair the math department and teach calculus, with 90 percent of my students passing the AP exam. I serve on a school district text- book committee; helped draft a math curriculum; and served on an instructional leadership team. I'm not a politician; I'm just a con- cerned citizen, youth sports coach and teacher looking to give back to the community my wife and I call home. I will fight for a high- quality education for all students; ensure money goes to classrooms, not bureaucracy; and provide complete accountability of tax- payer dollars. I am supported by OC Board of Education Trustees Ken Williams, Robert Hammond and Linda Lindholm and Tustin Councilman Jim Palmer (Ret.).

Jonathan Abelove As a TUSD governing board
member, business owner and father of a TUSD student, I am committed to the district’s suc- cess and student achievement. As an involved parent and com- munity member, I want what you want -- excellence in education, conservative stewardship of our tax dollars and excellent school facilities. Recent construction projects include middle school activity centers with classrooms and performance areas, high school science centers and class- rooms that meet the demand for
technology instruction. Auditors give TUSD the highest ratings for fiscal management. In the last five years TUSD has earned 16 California Distinguished School Awards and a national Schools to Watch award. California Business for Education Excellence has rec- ognized all of our high schools and middle schools, and most el- ementary schools. Tustin Unified schools increase property values because families move here due to the quality of the schools. Over 90 percent of TUSD graduates further their education.

Lynn Davis For 12 years Lynn Davis has
served on the Tustin School Board, improving our schools. Tustin Unified classroom in-
struction continues to improve dramatically. By insisting upon high English and math standards, student success has grown for over a decade. Thousands more students score “proficient” than in 2002. Students are better pre- pared for college and jobs than their peers across our county,

state and nation. The only long-time North Tu-
stin homeowner, grandparent and parent of Foothill High alums running for office, Lynn knows that our Foothill High Science Center, new pool and school im- provements enhance our commu- nity and property values. A Harvard MBA and past cor-
porate CFO, Lynn Davis is a fis- cal conservative assuring every dollar is spent wisely. His focus on high quality neighborhood schools helps all families and ho- meowners. Assemblyman Don Wagner,
