We Must Be In Paradise, Bailey. A Taste of New Florida in an Old Florida Atmosphere.

Close to the water, with views of the park and the Dunedin Marina, Sea Sea Riders Restaurant has been a Tampa Bay Area favorite since 1988. Proprietors Artie and Sylvia Tzekas took over the restaurant in 1990, and have made sure that everything served is made fresh to order in this casual setting. The new renovations include an expansion of the full bar that takes advantage of the view, with more outdoor seating.

T

THE RESTAURANT’S RUSTIC PATIO is a perfect spot for pups who want to accompany their humans for a dining excursion. Giant old oak trees, some adorned with Staghorn Ferns, have been incorporated into the converted home’s Key West style design. This is also a great spot for people-watching (and dog-watching, for that matter) as locals and tourists stroll by. Located in Downtown Dunedin, a town affectionately known to locals as DogEden, Sea Sea Riders Restaurant is laid back in atmosphere. And the service is always spot-on. Professionals who love what they’re doing. All of that comes from the top. The white board in the

lobby lists the daily specials for appetizers, entrees and drinks. Their Famous Black Bean Chili has been voted Best in Tampa Bay. Try the sauteed mussels, marinated in Tequila, served in a cilantro key lime butter.

Throughout the day, lunch

and dinner items include several pasta entrees, salads and sand- wiches. But what will really get your tastebuds going are the chef specials: Vanilla Rum Glazed Grouper. Mahi Key West. And plenty of shrimp dishes, including the Cajun Blackened or the Coca Cabana. A meal can be made by sharing several appetizers, like the Conch Fritters, Buffalo Mahi Bites, Shrimp Tsunami or Calamari - just to name a few.

94 THE NEW BARKER

Tempura Grouper Cheeks - (Foreground) These delectables are lightly breaded and fried, served with a sweet and spicy soy glaze and marinated cucumbers. Bailey, the leader of our restaurant excursion, surveys her good fortune.

Shrimp & Grits - Anson mill grits, Manchego cheese, sweet and spicy bacon, scallions and perfect shrimp. Pure Southern comfort food with a Key West kick.

Island time - The tropical drinks will put you in a vacation state-of- mind. Great wine list and an extensive craft beer selection. Ahh. This is why we moved to Florida.

Blackened Mixed Grill - Fresh Gulf fish of the day, shrimp and scallops served over wild rice. A favorite of Bailey’s human, Jerry, who’s been known to drive from North Tampa just to enjoy this dish.
