PRESIDENT’S PERSPECTIVE
Nebraska Trucking Executive Committee GREETINGS FROMLINCOLN!
I’m happy to report that we are getting closer to meeting our deadline for this edition of the Nebraska Trucker. I must admit, as your new editor of the magazine, I never realized everything that goes into putting together a magazine in an on time, relevant and at least “break-even” manner. Believe it or not, it’s much harder than moving freight! Why? Well, the people that we write the stories about are always in motion, they have a business to run, they have daily safety or maintenance issues to deal with or freight that has to be delivered on time and damage free. As an editor and publisher, the importance of telling our “peoples” stories in their own words or reporting on an issue correctly IS important to all of us. So as much as getting “your” publication out on time is important, so is telling the story or reporting an issue properly and that takes time.
Speaking of time, I’m going to have a little more of it as we continue to “rightsize” your organization. With the recent addition of Dick Reiser as our/your new Government Affairs Consultant to be our boots on the ground at the Capitol, we are getting a tremendous new asset to our arsenal for advocating trucking and transportation interests in Nebraska. Dick’s past experience with Werner Enterprises, along with leadership roles representing transportation with the Omaha and State Chambers of Commerce, combined with his years helping to lead our Association as a board member, former Executive Committee member and chairman, as well as serving on our Legislative Committee will be a great help to me as we continually advocate not only in the legislature, but every other state agency, highway funding or safety organization that we partner with on a daily basis. It’s true, we are a trucking friendly state that understands the importance of our industry in not only serving every community and industries shipping needs but also the amount of business investments and jobs we create in the state. We’ve got a great story to tell about our industry and the people that work in it. With the addition of Patty Wood and Dick Reiser, we’ll be able to carry on our past tradition of being a reliable resource for Advocacy, Information and Services in a deliberately, principled and professional manner in all that we do. Please join me in welcoming Dick and Patty in their new roles with the Association!
In closing I would like to once again invite each of you as members to begin following the Nebraska Trucking Association and Truck Services on our social media Facebook and Twitter accounts. Don’t forget to also visit our new web pages to get up to date information about your industry and Association.
Until next month,
