If this issue of Outline was an episode of Eastenders, it’d be the one where the lead character in the scene blubbed joyfully about how ‘everyfink is gonna be awlraaight naaaw’, skipping through the market and picking herself up a congratulatory pair of jeggings on the way, for maximum pathos before her untimely death in the next episode. OK, it’s a little bit dramatic to compare it to dying at the hands of Phil Mitchell’s Ford Mondeo, or Ian Beale’s café-tea-breath, but this is my penultimate issue of Outline. I’m disembarking the good ship Outline to sail new seas, and we’re looking for a new editor. Qualifications are necessary, of course: you must be able to hold a pen convincingly, and have less than four legs. OK, three. Tat’s pretty much the criteria, so if you too would like to witter on endlessly about how Norwich will in fact be as significant as Athens and Rome in future history terms, you should apply. See
