From board game to board room
The Multimodal 2014 educational programme will include a new supply chain board game aimed at inspiring the next generation of logistics leaders. “Business on the move” puts players in the supply chain driving seat, shiſting product from China to the UK, as quickly, cost-effectively, and responsibly as possible. The game is the brainchild of
retired teachers Andy Page and Pat Smedley and is sponsored by
50 leading logistics and
retail firms and organisations, including Multimodal. “We want to inspire and excite
young people about the world of logistics and business,” says Andy Page, of social enterprise The Very Enterprising Community Interest Company, behind the game. Other sponsors include the
Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Network Rail, and
DP World London Gateway, who will all be
represented at the Multimodal Seminar and Knowledge Lounge Sessions running at the exhibition from 29 April to 1 May. Tesco Express, Unilever, and
M&S have also backed the game, which can be played at seven different levels, by children from the age of nine, up to apprentices and new industry recruits. “Logistics is a vibrant industry offering plenty of exciting
