after meeting that new person or contact. Te app itself is pretty much self-explanatory. But for making network connections, it is extremely useful and helpful. Now you don’t have to worry about losing that card for that important prospective client or the fact that you forgot to bring your business card with you. Simply make your connection with your phone.
SCANNER PRO . Tis little app utilizes your smartphone or tablet camera to create a PDF on the go in less than one second. You can scan multi-page documents, add, move, delete and even combine pages in landscape or portrait
modes. While this app does not give you the clarity of a portable scanner such as a Fujitsu ScanSnap s1100, when you don’t have your computer with you and you need a quick scan of a document, your smartphone or iPad can provide you with a reasonably usable scanned document.
AUDIBLE . If you are like me, you don’t have a lot of time for reading and when you do, it is usually not for pleasure but for business. But if you are also like me, you spend a lot of time in your car driving to various destinations including
court, depositions, and more. Tis handy little app allows you to play books on your smartphone or tablet and even stream them through your car system so that you can listen on the road. Tis will allow you to listen to either books for pleasure, self- help or even legal methods for self-improvement. Either way, it allows you to utilize that commute to be more productive.
Search and Retrieve Legal Documents in Seconds!
You can even subscribe to your favorite magazine or newspaper. Although not all newspapers or magazines are available, you could follow, for example, Te Wall Street Journal, using audible and listen to a selection of the top business news articles daily. Note also that you can combine this app with the Kindle and use a product they call “Whisper Sync” to alternate between reading and listening to a book, picking up where you left off from each method.
FILEMAKER GO . Although some of you may use a legal specific data management system, which may or may not have its own app, many of us use either a cloud management solution or some form of contacts on our calendar. But, if
you want to keep track of some basic data on your clients and files, a simple database is a must-have solution. FileMaker gives you a great alternative. But, more importantly, it also has an app that will connect with your desktop version to give you your information on the go. FileMaker offers template databases online for free and provides enough options that you are sure to find one that suits your needs without recreating one from scratch. Setting up the connection will take some technical support. But the time spent will be well worth the effort.
ES EXPLORER . Here is an app that is most useful on the Kindle Fire, although it is available for any Android system. Tis app is a simple file manager which allows you to get to folders and files on your tablet. But, since the Kindle Fire
does not allow you to directly load the Google Drive, Dropbox or Sky Drive apps directly to your Kindle (the Kindle only allows you to get apps from the Amazon market and these apps are not available at the Amazon market but can be found in the general Android market), you can use this application to access each of those. Simply install this application and then, under networks, press the plus sign to add a network and you will see Google Drive, Dropbox, Sky Drive, etc. as options. All you need to do is sign in and your folders and documents will show up on your Kindle in ES Explorer. It is a great app if you cannot get to those applications directly. Keep in mind, however, that you can sideload the Kindle

Fire with the Google Drive, Dropbox, Sky Drive, etc. (or any other Android app) by finding the applications on an Android device that has access to the general Android market and then downloading it to a computer. Ten all you need to do is connect your Kindle Fire to the computer and move the application to a folder you create on your Kindle. Ten, after changing the settings on your Kindle to allow the installation of non-Amazon market apps, use ES Explorer to open the application and install it. It’s just that simple.
