Welcome to a very special BET Awards weekend!

After 12 years of hosting the BET Awards — music’s biggest night on television — we have partnered with AEG Worldwide and expanded one amazing evening to an entire weekend, with the BET Experience at L.A. Live! Our fi rst-ever BET Experience promises to be unforgettable.

The three-day event kicks off on Friday, June 28, with the North American debut of the Mrs. Carter Show (Beyoncé’s) World Tour, and culminates on Sunday, June 30, with the BET Awards ’13. Expect some of the world’s best musical perfor- mances, comedy shows, seminars, the BET Grammy Museum exhibit and much more. Each year we promise to make it bigger and better. This year we defi nitely delivered! If that wasn’t enough, we proudly welcome blockbuster

movie star and comedian Chris Tucker as host of the BET Awards ’13. The theme for this year’s show is Anything Can Happen, and, with Chris at the helm, it seems particularly fi tting. I’m also happy to announce that Charlie Wilson is the

recipient of the prestigious Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring his four decades in the entertainment industry. Only the truly extraordinary can be honored for their legacy while simultaneously snagging a nomination for new work (Charlie is nominated for this year’s Centric Award). A living legend, Uncle Charlie is clearly outstanding. We’re so glad to have you at our inaugural BET Experience at L.A. Live! and thank you for your continued support of BET. In your hands is a special Double Souvenir Issue of our Offi cial Viewers’ Guide. Please use this guide to review the nominees, keep abreast of all the winners and commemorate an extaordinary weekend. Join the conversation on social media by following BET’s

multiple social media platforms, dedicated to the BET Awards: Twitter & Instagram: @BETAwards, hashtag: #BETAward.

Enjoy it all! Debra L. Lee
