AMBA’S CHIEF EXECUTIVE: THE IMPORTANCE OF A QUALITY MBA


AMBA’s Chief Executive Andrew Main Wilson talks about the value of an AMBA accredited MBA and advises potential new MBA students on choosing the right programme


Over 40,000 MBA students graduate from AMBA accredited schools each year and one of AMBA’s ongoing priorities is to fully support its graduate members during the next stages of their careers, helping them network with fellow MBAs and linking them with employers worldwide.


Whilst steadfastly maintaining its discerning Accreditation Standards, AMBA continues to grow its Business Schools portfolio. The organisation currently accredits 210 business schools in 52 countries and territories. These schools collectively offer over 750 MBA, DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) and MBM (Master of Business in Management) programmes in more than 80 countries. AMBA’s increasing global portfolio means that students from all over the world have more choice in choosing a high quality programme, abroad, or closer to home.


The value which Business School leaders place on the international recognition which AMBA can provide for their programmes remains an essential differentiator in a competitive market. The same is true for MBA graduates.


Andrew Main Wilson, AMBA’s Chief Executive, explains why it is important for potential MBA and business postgraduate students to choose an AMBA accredited programme: “In an increasingly competitive global world, the value of a quality MBA has, in my opinion, never been more important.” Main Wilson says: “When I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce business degree in the UK, I was up against the very best UK university students trying to gain an international marketing job in a major multinational. I succeeded, but today that competition would be fought amongst global students, not just from your country or even your continent. That’s also true when you are aiming for a more senior post within most organisations.”
