COVER MODELS: KELLEN & NATHAN When many people think of love, the vision of a fairy tale
romance comes to mind. For Nathan and Kellen, candlelight dinners and long walks on the beach were the last things on their minds. In fact, neither of them were on the other one’s mind at all. When they first met at work, they didn’t even like each other. Kellen thought Nathan was annoying. And for Nathan, the feeling was mutual. But, because they worked together and traveled in the same circles, they had to find something in common. For them, it was the gym and working out. Kellen had questions about gaining muscle and Nathan had just moved to San Diego and didn’t have many friends. Over time, they started hanging out more and eventually became best friends. Nathan must have gotten a little less annoying and the two eventually confessed their feelings for
one another. Not that much has changed since they started dating; because at their core, they are still best friends who do everything together. It’s the disparity in their relationship that keeps them
strong. Two people who wouldn’t have believed they could be together found a way to go from “I don’t like him” to “I can’t wait to see him.” It is a constant reminder that there is some- thing strong that binds them. They were able to get past first impressions and learn to appreciate what each brings to the other. Starting out as friends makes for a relationship that few people get to experience. They already know all of the good and the bad about each
other. The fact that they choose to see the good is what makes their love strong.
