INDUSTRY NEWS Abstracts for ‘Bioenergy from Forest’ A


n international conference on ‘Bioenergy from Forest’ is being


organised by Benet Ltd at the Marina Congress Center in Helsinki, Finland, from 15- 18 September, 2014. The conference will focus on factors affecting the future of bioenergy and modern, bio- based technologies, including logistics systems, management, procurement chains, the effects of energy markets, international trade, the infl uence of green marketing and other trends. The organiser’s previous conference, which took place in Jyväskylä two years ago, attracted almost 200 delegates from 24 different countries.


The conference will include the following topics: Biomass Policies,


presented and shown during technical tours.


Combustion, boiler


Markets and Sustainability; Forest Biomass Resources and Production; Processes for Solid Fuels from Forest Biomass; Biomass Combustion and Power; Chemical Forest Biomass Conversion Products; and Business Concepts and Demonstrations. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 3 March, 2014, and should be submitted online or by e-mail to: bioenergy@benet.fi


An important role is to create and mobilise forest energy


markets. One focus will be on examples of how to create markets and to overcome barriers on national and international markets. Some countries, such as Russia, and areas, such as North and South America, have huge forest resources and will play an important role in international business.


Another important focus will be on forest energy resources in national strategies. Modern technologies for forest fuel production and logistics will be


technologies and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) power plants for forest fuels are of importance and already in practical use. The conference will also focus on conversion technologies, especially the production of pellets and torrifi ed fuels, transport fuels and pyrolysis. ‘Bioenergy from Forest’ will bring together current and future bioenergy and biofuel users with producers of bio-based products, as well as bioenergy executives, developers, fi nanciers, manufacturers, technology providers, scientists and teachers, policy-makers, local authorities and other organisations.
