a core backbone network, providing appropriate coverage of both fixed and wireless IP connection for mobile devices.
Capacity is another issue and this
needs to be planned in consideration of the potential high bandwidth applications being run over the network such as video. A related issue is that of availability and resilience. As we transfer more services to the
IP network it becomes that much more business critical. The next stage is to provide
interconnectivity between PTT voice and the network at the IP level that enables you to deploy PTT on smart devices. This means staff may not have
to carry a PTT terminal in addition to their smart phone. Step three is to provide
interconnectivity at the application level, which enables more feature rich applications such as voice recording, data analytics and further application integration. Other issues that need to be taken into account are: Safety; the integrated solution must be at least as safe as previous point solutions. Security must not be compromised
- even though we are talking about a private network, IP is the language of the Internet and the potential for a security breach is always there. The issue of software licences must
also be managed. On the physical connection, way leaves may need to be negotiated and landlord permission secured; joint ventures and revenue sharing from opportunities arising in the multi-tenancy environment must be considered. Whilst this seems to be a lengthy
checklist, all the points mentioned are readily addressed with the right approach and the right technology partner, making real-time unified comms infrastructures a reality.
