• Cal State L.A. is situated on a hill site originally occupied in 1776 by Franciscan missionaries and is one of California’s original adobes. The campus occupies 200 acres at the eastern edge of the City of Los Angeles with impressive views of the mountains to the north, the San Gabriel Valley to the east, metropolitan Los Angeles to the west, and the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Catalina Island to the south.


• Cal State, L.A. is easily accessible by car and by public transit—with bus and train stops on campus providing direct service throughout Los Angeles and its neighboring communities. Downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood are just a few miles west of the campus.
