I Feel the Earth Move… By Cal Orey

WORLD WATCH EARTH CHANGES

West Coast Sea Creature—Omens?

In late October, two giant rare oarfish and one saber- toothed whale washed ashore in one week off the shore of Southern California and captured attention from people around the world. Were these creatures signs of an imminent earthquake? During the weekly rash of sea monsters, a strong earthquake did rock the Gulf of California. Could these strange happenings be foreshadowing of an oncoming West Coast catastrophic quake—or worse? So, what gives?

Rare Sea Monsters from the Pacific Ocean Fast forward to October 24, at 10 P.M., I was a C

os . os oat t Cat AM. News segment guest tagged the “earthquake

sensitive” and author of THE MAN WHO PREDICTS EARTHQUAKES: Jim Berkland, Maverick Geologist (Sentient Publications). On the air, I noted that the two oarfish—the sea serpent duo--were “creeping me out.” As an intuitive who uses astrology as one tool and visions, I noted that I was recently seeing “water imag- es” and earthquakes and gave credit to Scorpio—the water sign. I said, “It’s not “if” a California earthquake will hit, it’s when.”

I added that while “animals are good” indicators of sensing Earth moves “they are not 100 percent reli- able.” I also reminded radio listeners that rare whales stranded themselves on San Francisco and Santa Cruz beaches prior to the major 7.1 World Series Earthquake, that rumbled through the San Francisco Bay Area at 5:04 P.M., October 17. And that’s not all.

Oarfish Lengends, Japan Quakes

I also noted, to host George Noory on Coast to Coast, that dozens of oarfish were sighted one year prior to the Japan 2011 great Fukushima earthquake—tsunami(s). A Japanese legend tells of oarfish stranding themselves as a sign of an imminent earthquake. I felt the timing of predicting the “Big One” based on a mere two rare oar- fish and one strange beached whale was sketchy, due to imperfect past animal-earthquake behavior linked to natural disasters.

Ironically, the next day, on October 25 a 7.1 strong earthquake hit but not on the West Coast—it rocked offshore Japan! The question is, did the sea monsters sense this Japan earthquake—or is a West Coast tremor on its way? But there’s more…

What is Going On with the Starfish?

To complicate matters, the starfish are dying from a wasting disease—turning into goo—from Southern California to Alaska. Some folks believe the demise of these beautiful and much needed creatures is due to the deadly radiation effects lurking in the Pacific Ocean fol- lowing the aftermath of the massive nuclear plant leak- age linked to aftermath of the Japan 2011 great quake and tsunami(s). It is no secret that radiation and tainted debris is moving west towards the entire West Coast. Is the poison morphing our fish, big and small, in the

Pacific Ocean—and how will it affect humans and our food chain? The jury is still out on the answers.

Animal Cues to Quaking

Meanwhile, as one who forecasts Earth changes, from quakes to tsunamis and rainstorms and snowstorms, I have to hold my ground and say animals are good fore- casters—but their timing can be a bit quirky! Twenty- four years ago, in October (the month of the 7.1 World Series Quake hit the San Francisco Bay Area), there were countless signs prior that a catastrophic earthquake was in the works.

• Seagulls flew miles inland and acted strangely; hom- ing pigeons got lost; a gelding panicked in his corral in the Santa Cruz Mountains, 20 minutes before the quake fissures ruptured the ground near him.

• On August 8, 1989 after a strong earthquake hit my indoors cat moved outdoors until after October 17.

• One week prior to the major earthquake, my Lab paced in the living room.

• The morning of the Loma Prieta aka World Series quake, my food-loving cat did not eat.

• On that Monday afternoon I experienced a strong earthquake headache, a symptom some quake sensi- tives get before an earthquake happens.

• Earthquake-sensitive people called in large numbers to the earthquake researchers.

The bottom line: As I said on the radio program, ani- mals are good earthquake predictors—but to give the exact month, day, and time? It’s a difficult task. As sci- entists, locals and tourists, and the world continue to keep their eyes open to strange sea creatures coming to the West Coast, we wait. Are animals’ strange signs tell- ing us something? Is it a warning of more devastation due to radiation and/or a great California earthquake? Only time will tell.
