The City Council will be having a “Clean Up

Edinburgh” day of action on the

29th of Nov. The 'Clean Up Edinburgh' campaign aims to target the problem of

littering in our city, by encouraging everybody to get involved and make a difference.

The Council are trying to recruit as many people as possible to take part in the day of action on 29

November and to take the pledge which can be found here - www.edinburgh.gov.uk/litter.

A photo competition is also being launched for people to send in any photos of them doing something to tackle litter – the more creative, the better! You can enter the

competition by Tweeting your photos with the hashtag #cleanupedinburgh. I would encourage constituents to get involved if they can.

I’m backing the Edin- burgh Evening News ‘Save Our Stations’ Cam- paign that is calling on Police Scotland to keep Edinburgh’s local police stations open. The Scot- tish Government ordered a review of the Police Public Counter service and it was announced that Police Scotland were putting forward proposals which include reducing services or in some cases completely closing police stations in eight locations across Edinburgh. I believe these

counter closures put the http://www.scottishlabour.org.uk/campaigns/entry/save-our-police-service

future of community po- lice officers in doubt. There is also real concern from Community Coun- cils and other groups that local community po- licing is being diluted. It’s almost as if the Scot- tish Government are withdrawing from com- munity policing. Police counters are a vital place where members of the public can raise an issue and where they can be reassured by the Police. You can so show

your support for the campaign by clicking the link below and signing the petition.
