WEB EXCLUSIVE COVERS UNITED ARAB EMIRATE'S FIRST TRANSPORTATION CONFERENCE, NEXT STEPS

The pupil transportation industry may be mature in the

United States but not in other parts of the world, such as the United Arab Emirates. In April the city of Dubai held an inaugural conference on its school transportation system, and invited representatives from 17 countries, including offi- cials from the National Association for Pupil Transportation. NAPT Executive Director Mike Martin and NAPT President

Alex Robinson attended the First Annual Conference on Shaping Sustainable School Transportation with Policy, At- titude and Action. Prior to this, Dubai officials had attended the NAPT Summit in October 2012 to learn more about U.S. safety standards and equipment for school buses. Learn more about the developing collaboration between the two countries thanks to the efforts of officials like Martin and Robinson, who will share more on these meetings at www.stnonline.com/home/web-exclusive.

Are You in the Clouds

With the Cloud? Our September magazine issue examined the

technological innovations transportation depart- ments have implemented, including cloud-based file sharing and storage to streamline operations and provide consistency. While some are just learning about cloud storage, others already are em- bracing it and have applied that system throughout the department, making it easy for supervisory staff to access the same files at different time, whether they are at work or working remotely. In a recent survey about use of technology in

transportation, about 59 percent of those who responded said their operation utilizes cloud computing and file sharing. Now we’d like to hear from you. Visit the www.stnonline.com home page and vote in our new Web Poll to let us know if your operation uses the cloud.
