l The U.S. Senate confirmed Gina McCarthy as EPA administrator on July 18 — 136 days after President Obama nominated her to replace Lisa Jackson. McCarthy previously served as the assistant administrator of the EPA since 2009, leading the organization’s air and radiation office. Prior to that, she was commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection for five years and also the deputy secretary of the Massachusetts Office of Commonwealth Development in 2003 and 2004. l Jim Ring joined First

Student Inc. as general manager of the school bus contractor’s Southern Illinois region. From 2010 to 2012, Ring was the senior location manager at the Cincinnati location, where he oversaw all aspects of operations including safety, maintenance and training. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years in the transportation industry with UPS and DHL Express. l A-Z Bus Sales, Inc. announced the addition of John Landherr as president. He brings 20-plus years of experience in senior management roles, most recently as president of

Jim Reynolds will continue as the CEO but has stepped aside as president to concentrate on M&A activity, line extensions for current business units and new business development, the company stated. l The Ohio Association for Pupil Transportation named Jeff Vrabel, Sr. the 2013 William Rice Award of Excellence for Pupil Transportation Supervisor of the Year. Vrabel is the operations manager at Transit Service Inc. in Youngstown. He also worked for 15 years at the Columbiana County Educational Service Center and, before that, at the Youngstown City School District.
