HUNDREDS of people enjoyed glorious sun- shine at Snodland Carnival. The floats and walkers were judged at Holmesdale Technology College by Howard Rogers, Mayor of Tonbridge&Malling, and his wife Jane, Bob Kingsbury and Penny Totham. The parade then travelled alongMalling Road, theHigh Street, Queens Avenue, Holborough Road, the High Street and Constitution Hill to Potyns Sportsground. Clock Tower Childcare was the winning float


and Snodland Cubs were the winning walk- ers. A total of £350 was collected from spec- tators along the way for Pegasus Explorers Scout Unit.


Entertainment was provided at Potyns by


the Glenduart Pipe Band, Silhouettes Dance & Theatre School, Brooks Academy ofDance and DK Twirlers rounded off by lots of teams playing tug-o’-war. Pictured right are the colourful walking pa-

Daisy’s commitment to sport recognised


A SNODLAND girl who has been dancing since she was two has won a KCC Try Angle Award. Daisy Hann (16), of Coombe Close, won the award for the sport or outdoor activity category. The Holmesdale Technology Col-


lege pupil was nominated by sports teacher Emma Mogen. The Try Angle Awards recognise


the achievements of young people in the community. Daisy (right), who has a sister, Molly (18), was born in Snodland and attended the Church of


England Primary School before going to Holmesdale. She will join the sixth form next term studying sports, psychology and English. She said: “I started dancing when I was two


and have been a member of the Brooks Acad- emy of Dance for 14 years. I became interested in sport when I went to Holmesdale.” Daisy, who want to be a sports teacher, was


the sports leader of the year in 2012 and dancer of the year in 2013. She was in the Starlights cheerleading squad


which won five firsts in a recent national com- petition at Crystal Palace.
