This is KATIE MACK, a 46-foot commuter designed by Ted Geary and built by McGugan Brothers of British Columbia, Canada in 1932. She is sitting on the dock at Strouts Point Wharf Co. in South Freeport after being purchased by a local customer. She may have some extensive work done this winter.

is done, just needs to be put in place and trimmed out. They also need to put down the deck hardware, plumbing, paint and varnish and lots of little things. She is scheduled to be over in August.
CHARETTE, a cold moulded racing sailboat, was sold and is a couple of weeks away from being shipped to Annapolis. They still need to put down a teak deck, fi nish the interior and add some systems. Coming in soon is a Fisher’s Island 31 for a total restoration. For years she was stored at Benjamin River Marine and now she will be getting her keel, frames, planks, and interior replaced as needed. She will be added to the local sailing fl eet.
An Eastsail 26, which consists of a
fi berglass hull and deck, are sitting outside. These will be brought in and fi nished off this winter. Her interior will consist of four berths, head and galley with an inside steer- ing station.
There is also customers interested in building a Rozinante and a 38-foot yawl, but nothing concrete yet.
Great Harbor Boat Works in Manset, is working on the 1902 Charles Morse built Friendship sloop WESTWIND. They will be installing the engine, chain-plates and rails. She has been at the yard for several years and they are hoping to launch her next summer.
In the shop is a 1979 Ralph Stanley de- signed and built 36-foot powerboat, getting her annual maintenance. She may also be getting a new engine.

ting closer to completion. She is planked and they are fairing the hull and framing in the deck and cockpit. During the summer not as much is getting done as the apprentice also does some lobster fi shing.
This spring they have been very busy getting their storage customers, all wooden boats, ready for the season. There is always lot of paint and varnish on these beauties.
S. W. Boat Works in Lamoine still has a good back log of new boats to build. They are currently fi nishing a Calvin Beal 38 for the Marine Patrol. Her engine, a C12 700-hp Caterpillar diesel, and running gear are in and they are now working on her interior. The interior will include a V-berth and head. As for a galley that has not yet been decided on. She is scheduled to be over this fall. A Calvin Beal 34 is under construction for a couple from Scituate, MA. She is a pleasure cruiser powered with a QSB 6.7 480-hp Cummins diesel. For accommoda- tions she has a V-berth, head and shower with her galley up in the shelter. She is scheduled to be launched this fall. Others to be fi nished include a Wesmac 46, as a lobster for a fi sherman on Vinalhav- en. She will be done this winter. A Calvin Beal 30 will be fi nished out as a lobster boat. A Young Brothers 40 is being laid up. She will be delivered to David Schlaefer, who will fi nish her out as a lobster boat for a fi sherman from Mount Desert Island. She is scheduled to be done next summer. A Young Brothers 45 hull is going to Boothbay to be fi nished out as lobster boat. She will be fi nished by her owner, who is replacing his Young Brothers 35.
