The Onyx 41 by DeBasto Designs and Hodgdon Yachts. (See below). As a result of running aground, GRACE EGRETTA has been undergoing a major keel


repair at Royal River Boat. A six-foot section of the keel was cut out from the keel joint aft all the way up to the apex. Afterwards, a new piece of oak timber, six inches thick by eight inches tall, was scarfed in. The new piece was then thru-bolted using bronze rod. Next, a new worm shoe that goes the length of the boat will be installed. The worm shoe will increase in size from one and a half inches at the bow, to four inches at the aft end of the skeg. General Marine in Biddeford is nearing completion on a General Marine 36, which was lengthened two feet. She is being fi nished out as a pleasure cruiser for a customer from Nantucket. She is powered with a 700-hp V-12 Caterpillar diesel. They are presently working on her interior, which is all cherry and that is about 75 percent complete. Down below she has three offset berths with a head and shower and galley up in the shelter. She is going to be used for sportfi shing and has bait well, fi sh hold and tuna box. She will also have the ability to


make ice.


This winter they have another 36 to do as a pleasure cruiser.


Besides the new construction they have also done a variety of repair jobs. One of the repair jobs was on an Elitecraft, which they redid the entire bottom on.


Rumery’s Boat Yard in Biddeford has just three or four boats still to launch for customers who come later in the season. The big job this past winter was on a Luders 16, which received a new bottom.


She has fi ve layers of 1/8th inch mahogany


and is cold moulded. They also replaced the chain-plates and did her usual annual maintenance.


Other jobs has been wiring a new mast


and fi tting it with LED lights on a Choey Lee sailboat; installing a solar charger on another boat; and making a repairs to a cockpit on a Channel Island Cutter.


They are getting ready to paint and varnish a Holland 38, which was fi nished out as a yacht a number of years ago. She was named MOXIE, but when sold she was renamed TROOPER, the owner having served in tanks in Iraq.


Also there has been some transient work, but most of this has been pretty easy.

man-Morse and then shipped to Round Pond where her owned, a cabinet-maker, fi nished her interior. They have removed her mast and are getting it ready to be stripped and painted. They will also paint her topsides and do some hydraulic work.


There has been some transient work, but most of this has been very minor. They are talking to a couple of potential customers who want to haul out on the rail- way. One is a 90-foot catamaran and another is a DEP oil barge.


Also in the main shop is IBIS, a New


York 30 once owned by J. P. Morgan. They are trying to fi nd her a new owner that wants to rebuild her. They also have a 6-metre designed by Olin Stephens, CHUCKATOO, which needs a new owner and a rebuild.
