CHIROPRACTIC CARE AND KIDS

A

s another school year approaches, children’s health is on the minds of most parents. A physical exam is usually required, but what about a chiropractic check?

We asked Drs. Mackenzie and Oscar Romero, both practicing chiropractors, whether that’s something to consider.

Q:

Would my child benefit from a chiropractic check?

A: Many people associate chiropractic with adult care, particularly care for pain and injuries. While chiropractic can

certainly help with those issues, much of chiropractic care focuses on preventive care. Chiropractic analyzes and corrects areas of misalignment in the spine and musculoskeletal system. The spine houses the spinal cord and has exiting nerves

that transmit information between the brain and all parts of the body. Altered vertebral joint position and aberrant motion cause stress to the nerve communication. This is known as subluxation. Subluxation isn’t unique to adults. Children become

subluxated through repetitive motions, during playground activities, sports activities and even active musical performances. Stress can also lead to subluxation, as can staying seated for long periods of time in classes, which can lead to poor posture and slouching. Carrying heavy backpacks can also cause subluxation.

Correcting subluxations is important. When kids are subluxation-free, there are no limits to what they can achieve!
