School extension to boost numbers


ST John’s Primary School in Grove Green may soon have six additional classrooms, an ex- tended hall, group rooms and another 37 parking spaces. The planning application is

Home ‘would not affect privacy’ A SCHEME has been submitted for a four-bedroom home on the same plot as The Mount, a 10-bedroom home in Church Lane, Bearsted. Mr C Gravestock’s application says the proposed dwelling would not affect the privacy and light of other new builds in the area. A separate planning application, which will also be deter- mined byMaidstone Council, has been submitted to demolish a greenhouse and two outbuildings to facilitate the new home. A supporting statement said: “The footprint of the structures


being demolished would equal that of the ground floor new build footprint. The gardenwill provide two parking spaces to the side as well as a garage on site providing two spaces.”

the building from the reception class onto a larger Tarmac area, which incorporate a play area with equipment. The play- ground steps down to the school field at the south and mature hedgerow provides a dense barrier to the adjacent houses. “The proposal is predicted to reduce the traffic in the local area as more local children will be able to attend the school travelling on foot.” The statement admits that “overlooking issues will have to be taken into consideration” as the extension would be close to homes.


However, it adds that a 10 de-


gree angle floor plan would en- sure that the distance between the extension and neighbouring homes will be “increased to its maximum”.
