I understand and I can help… Expertly translating military achievements into civilian skills

J

oanna Murchie is a service wife who gave up a successful career in the film industry four years ago to raise her children.

“It wasn’t possible”, Joanna says,

“to carry on doing what I was doing with a young family and a husband in the forces, so something had to give – and it was my job!”

Since then I have forged a new career as a CV writer and interview coach. Two years ago I launched CV Essentials. The company has gone from strength to strength, with several hundred CVs written to date, and a 100% satisfaction record. I also have a 100% success rate in interview coaching, with all clients going on to be offered jobs following their sessions with me. In 2011 I was named as one of four finalists in the Hampshire Winning Women Business Awards, in the Business Mum of the Year Category, and have been featured numerous times on local and national BBC Radio, and in the national press as a CV and careers expert with a particular focus on the military.

Because of the circles I move in, the majority of my clients have been serving members of the Armed Forces and their wives or husbands. As such, by popular demand I launched a subsidiary company to CV Essentials, called Military CV Services. Not only do I offer a substantial discount to all members of the Forces, I also extend the same discounts to their spouses, who face their own difficulties in finding employment for a variety of factors; something I can of course relate to first hand. I am told that I am the only CV consultancy currently offering this.

As a military wife, I completely understand the unique challenges faced by those married to the forces when it comes to finding employment (eg. constant moving, reduced chances of promotion, lack of career progression, etc.) and I am truly passionate about helping people like myself get their very best shot at the career ladder with a killer CV that addresses all these obstacles and turns them into positives.

With many specialist CV consultancies charging upwards of £250, I pride myself on delivering an entirely bespoke service at an affordable rate, starting at just £59.99 for a CV written completely to the client’s requirements. I am also happy to offer a free initial review of an existing CV, to identify areas that need improving. I would also like to offer a free covering letter (worth £15.99) to anyone who mentions Envoy magazine when they place an order for a CV.

I feel it is the very least I can do to help out these extraordinary men and women in the challenges they face.

What Joanna’s clients are saying: “Jo has the rare ability and inexhaustible

knowledge required to be able to assimilate what may seem inconsequential skills and knowledge into a stunning CV of which I am very proud. Jo’s whole approach is to be highly commended for its professionalism.”

“Get Joanna Murchie to re-write your CV woman is a genius in all things jobs-related!”
