A TOUCH OF STYLE

July starts with a touch of style as the hit musical High Society arrives in town on July 1-6. Te cast, headed by Robin of Sherwood star Michael Praed tells the story of wealthy socialite Tracy Lord who is torn between three different men on the eve of her wedding. Stylish costumes and great tunes like ‘True Love’, ‘You’re Sensational’ and ‘Well, Did You Evah’ are all featured in this lavish show. Ten there is something completely different as an all-star cast star in the acclaimed stage production of Birdsong, which runs from July 8- 13. It’s already been an iconic book and a hit TV drama, and now it takes to the stage with its passionate and emotional story of love set against the background of the First World War. Te production also features a wide range of well-known performers including Sarah Jayne Dunn (Mandy in Hollyoaks), Charlie G Hawkins (Darren in EastEnders) and Arthur Bostrom (the Franglais-speaking Officer Crabtree from ‘Allo ‘Allo). Te rest of July is dominated by a true theatrical event as pop and stage legend Marti Pellow stars in the classic musical Evita from July 15- 27. He plays the revolutionary Che Guevara in the story of the iconic Eva Peron who rises from humble beginnings to become the spiritual leader of Argentina. A stirring story, strong performances and classic songs like ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’, ‘Oh What A Circus’ and ‘Another Suitcase In Another Hall’ are all featured in this must-see production.

INDELIBLY MARK IT AND INCREDIBLE MARK-ET

You lot were obviously pilgrims and saints in your previous lives, as you’ve had enough spiritual swing to conjure back a fifth installment of the annual Norwich Body Art Festival. HUZZAH! Getting frighteningly close to the weekend that marks the fifth year, the region’s only tattoo convention – lovingly concocted by us at Outline and the fun-time frankies at Indigo Tattoo Studio – will open its new doors on August 17th and 18th. Tose new doors are the resplendent welcoming arches of the city’s grand Open venue on Bank Plain. We’re over the moon to be moving into our new home and to really set our first year at Open off with a bang, there’s some exciting developments from previous years. As well as the usual sky-high calibre of over 80 tattoo artists doing their thing over the weekend, there’s gonna be a step up in the entertainment as we take over the Open club-room, dedicated to providing a line-up of no holds barred acts, including amplified music, which we’ve previously never been able to offer in the festival’s old home. Te other huge news this year is that we’ve upped our game in terms of trade stalls with a dedicated NBAF Market, offering homegrown faves and other items from all round the country to lay your hands on. Tickets are just £10 / day and on sale now! For all the developments, keep your eyes on our Facebook/NorwichBodyArtFestival and the website, www.norwichbodyartfestival.co.uk
