Collier Family Farms: On the Road for Healthier Food
A
ve Maria-based Collier Family Farms, the area’s newest certified organic farm, will be closed for the rest of the summer. During that time, the farmers will travel to organic farms in other regions to share their experi- ences and learn new alternative, safe growing methods. “Farming is constantly evolving, with new ideas and better practices introduced every day,” explains Lara Collier, of Collier Family Farms. “The open-door policy of many small, family-owned farms is a valuable con- duit of information for the independent farmer. We plan to take advantage of the summer to explore new opportuni- ties and prepare for the launch of our community supported agriculture (CSA) program in the fall.” Collier Family Farms, located on 45 acres in eastern Collier County, focuses on offering a wide variety of locally grown, pesticide-free, non-GMO fruits and vegetables.
Location: 5321 Ave Maria Blvd. For more information or to learn more about this fall’s CSA program, call 239- 398-4157, visit CollierFamilyFarms. com or visit the farm’s Facebook page.
