Who are you? Ian Gough, Head Greenkeeper at Kington Golf Club.
Family status? Single.
Who’s your hero and why? David Attenborough because of the work he has done for wildlife.
What would you change about yourself? To correct some of the wrong decisions I have made in my life.
What is your guilty pleasure? Cakes and biscuits.
What do you drop everything for? Work.
What’s been the highlight of your career so far? Working on the Walker Cup 1995 at Royal Porthcawl.
Climate change - Fact or fiction? 50- 50, time will tell.
If you could go anywhere right now, where would it be? Bradnor Hill.
What is the best part of your job? The location of the course.
And the worst? Closing the course and disappointing the members.
Do you have a lifetime ambition? To travel the world.
Who wouldn’t you like to be? The Prime Minister.
Favourite record, and why? My Boy Lollipop by Millie Small.
Who would you choose to spend a romantic evening with? My ideal women?
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Make sure my family are provided for.
If you were to describe yourself as a musical instrument, what would you be and why? Pan pipes, because they give me a sense of freedom.
What’s the best advice you have ever been given? To treat people as you would expect to be treated yourself.
What’s your favourite smell? Honeysuckle.
What do you do in your spare time? Walking the dog and bird watching.
What’s the daftest work related question you have ever been asked?
When there has been a foot of snow covering the course “Well, when will the course be open?”
What’s your favourite piece of kit? Our Toro Greensmaster 3250D
What three words would you use to describe yourself? Happy, conscientious and content.
What talent would you like to have? To be able to play a guitar.
What law/legislation would you like to see introduced? Laws to improves everyone’s quality of life.
