Saturday June 29th

Bearsted & Thurnham Carnival & Fayre 2013

fayre full of fun

the theme will be a traditional country fayre, with a prize for the best dressed stall. The procession will have an

open theme, providing plenty of scope for organisers of carni- val floats and walking groups to let their imaginations run riot. The parade, led by the 2012 carnival princess Madeline Hill and her deputies Gabrielle Ellis and Hannah Whitenstall, will leave Madginford at 12.15pm, arriving at Bearsted Green for the opening ceremony. Downs Mail will again spon-

sor the carnival princess award, and there will be a children’s fancy dress competition. Kent Carnival Court will also be in attendance. The occasion boasts numer-

ous stalls and sideshows – old favourites plus a few new ones – as well as refreshments, live music, dancing, tombolas, raf- fles, fancy dress and displays. Thousands of pounds are

raised each year for charities and local amenities and groups. This year the bulk of themoney will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and Slide Away, which offers bereavement support for children and young people in West Kent, with the remainder going to local good causes. Fayre president Pat Marshall

said: “There is something for all the family so bring the sunshine along with your smiles and you will be helping to raise a lot of money for our charities and local organisations.”
