former farm site UP TO 100 homes could be built on former agricultural land in Harrietsham. Wye Agricultural Ltd hopes

to build between 80 and 100 houses on land to the east and west of the Church Road sec- tion south of Ashford Road, demolishing old farm buildings and converting an oasthouse. The development would pri- marily consist of two-storey buildings, would have onsite parking and could include af- fordable housing. In a document sent to Maid-

stoneCouncil the applicant said: “The introduction of new homes into Harrietsham, including af- fordable properties, is key to continuing to meet the aspira- tions of existing and future gen- erations by fostering social mobility, health andwell-being.” The applicant intends vehi-

cles to enter and exit the site via a “priority junction” from the A20. The boundary of Harrietsham ConservationArea runs into the site for a small distance, and the land is 300m away from the Kent Downs area of outstanding natural beauty. The applicant has asked Maidstone Council whether an environmental impact assess- ment is necessary before sub- mitting a planning application.
