While there are many life lessons those treasured Uni years provide us with, what some graduates and final year students might be left wondering is how do I demonstrate the skills I need to get a ‘proper’ job?
It’s a tough one. According to the CBI’s Education and Skills Survey 2012, the majority of businesses surveyed do not believe that schools and Universities are doing enough to prepare students for the workforce. Whether you agree or disagree with this, it wouldn’t hurt to think about other achievements in life which might help to demonstrate the skills which remain high on the wish list of employers, would it?
You may have heard about the DofE at some point during your education. What you might not be aware of is that employers really value the DofE on a young person’s CV. In fact, in an independent survey by the United Learning Trust, employers rated the DofE as the number one accolade on a young person’s CV after academic qualifications.
Set up by the Charity’s Patron in 1956, the DofE is available to anyone aged between 14 and 24 through organisations all over the country – from Universities and colleges to youth clubs and through businesses. You can
