Adobe Acrobat XI Standard ($300) You now need to outfit your Ultrabook with must-have software.

What is a must-have software? It's what is necessary to utilize your Ultrabook when you are away from your office and either away from the internet or a friendly printer. Tat is, if you need to print something from a website, but you aren’t online. Ten, you can convert any website, program file or screen file to PDF and upload it to your cloud storage for later printing and use.

LogMeIn Pro ($70/year) Although you can use Remote Desktop for free access to your

computer remotely, it also makes sense to have a backup program for use. For example, if your computer moves IP addresses (either internally or externally), remote desktop might be temporarily unavailable for use—and usually I find that this occurs at the most inconvenient times. But, LogMeIn will be available at all times, as long as your computer is on and has internet connection. And for those of you who are not familiar with Remote Desktop or LogMeIn, here is a brief synopsis. Both programs allow you to connect to your desktop remotely, which means that you can view your desktop screen on your Ultrabook as if you were sitting at your desk. So, imagine that you are in a deposition, you can have access to any document in your file simply by logging onto your desktop computer and pulling up the document you need to see. Note that while you can do this with Dropbox and Google Drive on an iPad, flipping through the document quickly on an iPad app is nonexistent and impractical. And flipping back and forth between different documents is nearly impossible. But, doing this on your desktop computer and viewing it on your Ultrabook is simple and convenient.

Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 MultiSheet Scanner ($600) To take advantage of your cloud storage, you will need to

be able to quickly convert all paper into documents that can be stored. In other words, you need a quick and compact scanner to scan directly to PDF all of your paper documents. Of course, with most pleadings, since the state courts have now gone to an electronic filing system, most of us can simply log on to that system and download a copy of the pleading from the court. But, at times it is more convenient to simply pull the staples out and drop the document into a desktop scanner. Moreover, for letters and discovery documents, which don’t get filed, you need to be able to scan them quickly and add them to your electronic file.

Dragon Naturally Speaking 12 Professional ($600) Finally, for the only other program that you might need/

want to install on your Ultrabook, I suggest that your try voice recognition. You will either love it or hate it. Tere is no in between. Te only drawback to this program is that it requires a really good microphone to work accurately. It also requires some patience. But, with both, you will find that you won’t want to type anything ever again. t
