CFP 103, white label, stereo. I have priced this LP at £7, which seems like a lot for a budget label re-issue, until one learns that a first pressing of this exact same recording on ASD 254 attracts very high prices (see photo of label). For example, at the time of writing, two major online classical dealers have copies for sale at £400 and £375. This year, at least eight copies have sold at auction, with prices ranging from £113 to $372; and from their online shop, Oxfam Bridport recently sold a copy for £75. So, you pays your money.... Guido Cantelli’s tragic death in a plane crash at the age of 36, plus his very small back catalogue (particularly in stereo) have made his LPs (and CDs) very desirable, and this is reflected in the prices for his recordings.


There is a TASS Books & Music Sale at the Anchorage Centre most Tuesday mornings. Also, on the first Saturday of each month, TASS sells vinyl records from its stall in Tavistock Pannier Market. TASS does not have suitable premises for selling classical music on LP, but if you have particular music ‘wants’, email me and I will check our stock in storage and also keep a lookout for you: fundraising@tasstavistock.org.uk


*’Flutter on the bottom end’ refers to audible low frequency wobble when listening to an LP, due to tiny speed fluctuations in the turntable.
