One of A Kind Bakery’s cupcake decorating workshop. People literally jumped at the chance of some Blue Peter style “here’s one I made earlier” cupcake decorating. Eating them after may have had a bit to do with it.
Like it’s TV counterpart Croydon Bake off held all the elements of a winning baking contest. The nervous nail biting anticipation over judges’ deliberation and more importantly the tasting. Here’s where GCBO topped GBBO, as us mere mortals got to sample the
mouthwateringly flavourful goods too!
Croydon Bake Off was definitely a community event, even down to the ingredients! Kimberley’s eggs came straight from her Pa’s garden and Neil’s cauliflower farming Grandad provided the all-important main ingredient for his savoury bake. At its end GCBO saw the community really come together. For that and so much more, kudos must be given to organiser Christo Matthews. We look forward to seeing the Bake Off grow in scale, popularity and lip smacking delights!!
Next Bake Off date: Saturday 11 May

...and my fave, not just for the huge bottle of Cointreau used to infuse the orange icing that crowned winner Kimberley’s sweet entry; Cranberry and Orange Bakewell Tart with Cointreau icing.
