United Highland Charities Christmas Card Stall

From 5th to 18th November 2012, 12 national and local charities came together in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness to sell their Christmas cards.

Charities from Macmillan, Marie Curie, CLIC Sargent, CHAS, Maggies, Red Cross, Children 1st, Highland Hospice, British Heart Foundation, Chest, Heart and Stroke, Highland Community Care Forum and Carr Gomm ran the stall for 2 weeks, each charity taking responsibility for 1 or 2 days, to sell everyone’s

cards. Shoppers were delighted to browse such a large selection of their favourite charities cards whilst out gathering their Christmas gifts.

The stall made £17,437.20 of which Carr Gomm made £1139.59, to support their work in the Highlands. The event has been running for over 8 years. All were delighted with the outcome and offered their thanks to the Eastgate Shopping Centre for their continued support.

In August a team of 10 Carr Gomm walkers from all over Scotland participated in the 7 and 13 mile routes around the magnificent Hinterland (photo) of Poolewe, Aultbea and Dundonnell. Our walkers raised over £1244 which was then ‘topped up’ by 45% from the event organisers, to make a grand total of £1800.

Well done to our walkers from Edinburgh, Argyll and Bute and the Highlands.

Legacy Giving

Local Authorities have less money to fund services for people supported. In order to continue to change people’s lives, we need to raise as much money as possible from other sources. One way of doing this is by leaving a legacy in a Will or giving us a gift in memory of a loved one. This can be an important way

to remember someone and help contribute to Carr Gomm’s work.
