Office: Madison County Assessor for 4 years. County I was born in: Madison County. What I like most about my county: Rural life and the scenery.
The best thing about living in Arkansas: Its rich history and fun places to visit.
I got started in county government because: I always wanted to be a county official.
My favorite meal: Brown Beans and corn bread and fried potatoes with some ketchup and maybe a garden fresh tomato.
When I’m not working I’m: Playing music with various John Montgomery
Number of years of county official: 8 years, took office as sheriff in January 2005.
County I was born in: Howell County, Mo.
What I like most about my county: The overall quality of life.
The best thing about living in Arkansas: Natural beauty combined with interesting politics.
I got started in county government because:
I was not happy with the public’s perception of the sheriff’s office. My favorite meal: Catfish and hush puppies.
When I’m not working I’m: Bugging my wife Karen to find a project so I can make something with my hands. The accomplishments of which I am most proud: Designing COUNTY LINES, WINTER 2013
My pet peeve
The accomplishments of which I am most proud: Two healthy boys and a great wife.
The hardest thing I have ever done is: I haven’t really done it yet, that is, raise my children with a sense of respect
toward others and their elders and not spoil them.
If I wasn’t a county assessor, I’d be: Buy a hardware store and be a small business
owner.
You might be surprised to learn that: I played tuba for the Wonder Boys.
My pet peeve is: When I hear someone say, “I just don’t have time to ...”
the Baxter County Sheriff’s website and knowing that the design template is being used by many other sheriff’s offices in more than 25 states.
The hardest thing I have ever done is: Speaking to a civic group
five minutes after receiving a phone call that my mother had passed away.
If I wasn’t a county sheriff, I’d be: A college professor.
You might be surprised to learn that: My favorite TV show is MacGyver and my
current favorite is Blue Bloods. is: A person’s cell phone ringing during a
meeting or worse, the person actually answers the phone during the meeting.
