was pointed at me on night not too far from where I live in hackney. I think the single factor of the entire event that had the changing eff ect on me was my younger brother being there. I didn’t want anything to happen to him or for him to fall into those patterns of behaviour.

I’ve Read That Your Next Challenge is the South Pole – Can You Give Us Some Details on That? How Are You Feeling About the Challenge at the Moment? My next challenge is to complete an 1150km, 60 day, solo trek to the South Pole, this was initially planned for November 2012, but it’s had to be changed to next year. I’m really looking forward to it, like I’d do with any other challenge and I think it will be a once in a life time opportunity to see how I personally will cope with being totally alone for so long.

My current plan is to be treking across the South Pole on a solo walk in 2013, plans are not yet fi nalised, and my hope is to raise around £100,000 from sponsorship and donations and through my Buy a Mile campaign (which allows people to engage with my journey by buying miles along my walk). The money will go to pay for the trek and for my chosen charities, details to be uploaded to the website shortly: donate at www.dwayne-fi elds.com

Tell Us About Your Motivational Speaking? How Important is it for You to Reach Young People?

For me the most important thing about my adventuring is being able to share my especially with young people. To use an old cliché; they are the future, and if I can share what I have learned with them in the hopes that they may become empowered, encouraged, and inspired by it then I feel this will leave them in better form to overcome any challenges they may face. I feel that’s the most important thing when

aiming to turn our young people into our future leaders.

What Advice Would You Give to Any of Our Readers Who Might be Facing Difficult Situations (16-18 year olds.) I would advice any of your readers that are facing a diffi cult situation to speak to someone about it, let a friend or family member know how they feel about the challenge their facing, if they can’t off er advice or you don’t feel comfortable speaking to some close to you, there are helplines for everything you can imagine. I think it’s also worth your readers remembering that although they may feel like they are the only person that’s going through a particular situation others may have gone through it, and they can draw strength from someone else’s experience.

Who Inspires You and Who Do You Look Up To? I’m inspired by people who work towards being the best in their chosen fi elds; the reason for this is because they have a passion that is almost contagious for what they do. I tend not to look up to people, what I do is appreciate the diff erent positive aspect in the personalities I come across and then work towards realizing those aspects in myself.
