 Communication and Involvement

More than anything else however, I believe that communication between the coach, riders and owners be placed as the highest priority throughout the next four years. In addition to the coach and riders being “on the same page” at all times, I also believe that the selection com- mittee should be as well. Consequently, I propose that the selectors be nominated and effectuated for the entire quadrennium, as opposed to the current system of bringing to- gether a group of observers only for the specific duration of the selection trials.

 Selection Systems 2014 WEG and 2016 Olympic Selection System Should be in place by April 2013

CSIO Selection Procedure

Should be changed…It is my belief that nominating a team of riders five weeks out from the competition makes no sense at all! It is not far enough in advance of the compe- tition to make proper preparations, and yet too far out to evaluate current form.

 2013 Schedule Wellington Nations Cup (March 1, 2013) World Cup Final – Goteburg, SWE (April 24-28, 2013) Spruce Meadows Nations Cup (June 15, 2013) European Tour (TBA) Spruce Meadows Masters Nations Cup (September 7, 2013) Nations Cup Final (late September – TBA)

As I mentioned at the outset during the rider meetings in September, I intend to make myself available to the owners and riders at all times. Particularly during the upcoming year as we adjust to the new FEI Na- tions Cup format and procedures, it is imperative that I can be contacted with input or questions whenever necessary. Please feel free to get in touch with me by email (robert@ridland.net) or on my cell phone (949- 422-2010) at any time.

Thank you, Robert
