Islands brewery merger
Munich’s famous Hofbrauhaus to dis- tribute their German Beers in the UK. Beers will be available on draught as well as in bottles and will be sold through both the on and off trade.

The Haufbrauhaus in Munich attracts 1.9 mil- lion visitors a year and was founded in 1589. The brewery sells over 30,000,000 litres of its beers a year worldwide. Currently it produces Hofbrau Original, Hof- brau Dunkel, Munchner Weisse and Hofbrau Schwarze Weisse, all of which will now be available throughout Scotland from January 2013.
Export Manager Andreas Straub of Hofbrau Munchen said: ‘I am delighted to be working with the team from the Arran and Skye Brew- eries and together we will bring the most tradi- tional of German Beers to the UK market. ‘To have them marketed by two of Scotland’s iconic breweries, who like us believe in prov- enance, quality and tradition, is very good news.’

HE MERGED breweries of Skye and Arran have announced a deal with
Pam MacRuary of Isle of Skye Brewery, who is heading up the combined companies’ brewing team, added: ‘We are very pleased to be working with such a famous name in the European brewing industry. There is a great synergy between our traditional Arran and Skye ales and the Hofbrauhau’s excel- lent quality lagers and weisse beers. This fills a gap in our range by providing us with a first class premium lager offering. ‘Beers will be initially imported but in fu- ture our plans are to import the beers in bulk and bottle them at the Rosebank Brewery and Distillery in Falkirk.’
Angus MacRuary added: ‘One of the great things with this tie-in with Hofbrauhau is that we will be able to offer their entire range in our own new pub chain and give customers a genuine German Beer Kellar experience as well as our own beers.
‘Our trade customers will also be pleased to be given a high-quality alternative to the mainstream lagers currently available to them.’
